It wasn't until after having children that I understood what being overweight was like.  I had always been athletic and active. With my first I was left with 45 extra pounds.  By the time I had my third I was 60lbs heavier then my pre baby self.  The extra weight wasn't the biggest issue though.  I had major undiagnosed thyroid issues (yeah even with tests coming back normal yearly).  It eventually led to me loosing my thyroid.  Shortly after I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, not a huge surprise as both my parents have it. This was my wake up call!  Before children I wasn't the best to my body nutrition and substance wise.   I changed my diet drastically with my first pregnancy. I continued to e...

I get it, babies can be hard!  They can't tell you what they want, they keep you up and wake you up.  Teething, gas and sleep regression are things just about every parent deals with.  Then there are allergic babies, colicky babies, and babies with super high needs.  Sleepless night and zombie-mom days. My forth baby, David, I am happy to go through it all.  I take the bad nights with an extra cup of coffee,  the gassy days with some more time in the baby carrier.  The car ride crying with some extra volume on the radio.  Why because I am blessed to have him here and healthy. Our third baby was a heart baby, her first six months were the most stresssfull time in our lives. Consta...

I look forward to sharing pictures and stories during this first week of August, also known as #worldbreastfeedingweek. It's a time to celebrate our breastfeeding stories, wether we fed our babies for a week or 4 years.  It's about normalizing breastfeeding so prenatal can fed their baby anywhere at anytime.   It's about making breastfeeding the normal standard to which other feeding methods are compared.   What it's not about is shaming parents who cannot or choose not to breastfeed.  It's not about breastfeeding being the best!  It's not better it's just normal.   Science and WHO:  we all know that human breastmilk is the best food for a human infant, and that drinking from the source is also the best ...

I started my business to really help new parents. I saw how there was a need for parents to have support and that so many didn't have what they needed to get through the 4th trimester. After bringing home a new baby the family needs time to adjust, reassurance, guidance and somewhere to vent without judgment or advice. Sometimes that could be a greatly supportive family member or friend, but it's a pretty rare thing to have some one like that in your life. Especially now here in Ottawa, where a lot of people's families live so far away. I came into this work to be there for people who needed it and thought it would be me helping them. Yet with each client I help I find myself gaining so much from them. I really feel tr...

I'm back!! With excellent news! We are expecting our 4th baby in April. We are all so excited and have great plans for 2016. I have been dying to share it all with all of you, but pregnancy can suck! Don't get me wrong I am not be a complainer, every morning I woke up feeling like I was going to puke was a small victory as much as it was awful. It meant baby was doing well. I have been so sick and tired everyday for the least three months, anything non-essential got pushed back. Now I am 15 weeks, in the second trimester and starting to feel human again. Thank goodness! I don't remember beefing this depleted with my other babies, maybe I blocked it out, or wasn't chasing 3 other kids around all day.   Over the next few mont...
